Soweco is dedicated to supporting workers who face barriers to entering the labor market. The organization advises businesses on how to effectively integrate this specialized workforce into their operations. Originally operating under the Social Employment Act, Soweco's role evolved with the introduction of the Participation Act in 2015.
With the Participation Act redefining its role, Soweco needed to raise awareness about its new position in society. The law fundamentally shifts the employment landscape, gradually phasing out traditional sheltered workplaces. While participation means "getting the opportunity to take part," it can also feel like an obligation to integrate.
As an organization created by and for individuals with a distance to the labor market, Soweco is committed to ensuring the success of the Participation Act and its positive impact on both workers and businesses.
Instead of a standard corporate video, we produced a short documentary-style awareness film. Over the course of two days, we conducted on-location interviews in the Almelo region with key stakeholders, including:
• Municipal policymakers
• Employers
• Workers directly impacted by the new legislation
The interviews formed the backbone of the story, with powerful quotes shaping the film’s narrative. To enhance the emotional impact, we incorporated scenic b-roll footage and drone shots of the surrounding environment. Additionally, a professional voice-over provided a compelling introduction and closing statement.
An engaging and thought-provoking awareness film that highlights the importance of an organization like Soweco. The documentary serves as an eye-opener, encouraging businesses, policymakers, and society as a whole to recognize the value of inclusive employment.
